Highland Botany Co uses juniper and pine essential oils. These ingredients have brightening, restorative, anti-aging and anti-bacterial qualities.

The roastery is located in the Scottish Highlands in Cairngorms National Park. The location of the roastery is surrounded by great beauty, nature and suitable for foraging. We produce sustainable essential oils from local botanicals: juniper, pine, willow, rosehip and other alpine and meadow products.

Active ingredients

Grain Ethanol: Kills 99.99% of most common disease-carrying bacteria and when used properly, very safe and effective. The ethanol we use is derived from the fermentation of grain and the subsequent distillation of the drink.

Pine oil: known for its brightening, energizing and uplifting effects. When applied to the skin, this oil relieves irritation and inflammation, helps prevent infections and stimulates blood circulation with an anti-ageing effect.

Juniper berry oil: has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. The active substances in juniper oil are: sabinene, limonene, myrcene, alpha and beta-pinene.

Vegetable Glycerol: Acts as an emollient in our hand sanitizer and provides skin hydration. Glycerol increases the spreadability of the hand sanitizer and provides even coverage to the skin. Glycerol softens the skin and protects it from dryness and dermatitis.

Aloe Vera: A well-known emollient with over 70 active contributors contributing to its anti-bacterial, anti-septic and anti-virus effects. Aloe is very helpful in healing minor wounds and skin problems such as burns, psoriasis and eczema.

Every hand sanitizer sold contributes to peat restoration to reduce carbon emissions and combat global warming. The Scottish peat bogs are a globally important carbon dioxide store and a haven for wildlife and medicinal plants.
